A horror adventure like no other! Gray Dawn manages to do something that so many games before it often fail to manage. Draw the player into a world that feels real and immersive. From the opening scenes it’s difficult not to be transfixed with the story. Upon taking control of the games protagonist and somewhat troubled character the story escalates quickly. Subtle noises and objects along with moments of interaction make for an awe inspiring experience. Devout religious people should definitely avoid Gray Dawn as I’m sure there’s an incredible amount of distressing content. For those that don’t conform to religious views or are open to extreme content then Gray Dawn is a thing of beauty.
Gray Dawn is something rather splendid and from a team of only 3 developers is even more incredible. They deserve all of the support and appreciation for such a marvelous showpiece.
The player takes control of Father Abraham, a priest trying to find a missing altar boy whilst contending with demonic possessions and divine apparitions.
Gray Dawn – Let’s Play Series Video Playlist
Personally, I’ve been really surprised by the quality of the games story and level of immersion so much so that rather than cover the game with a simple First Look I felt it warrants a full Lets Play experience which I only commit to for a handful of quality games.
Audio and graphics are wonderful with so much character and detail. Sounds flow effortlessly from one ear to the other as you move around a location providing a very real experience. Detail of objects is incredible from paintings and objects to the environments. Gray Dawn transitions with ease and clarity between the demonic phases to the tranquil holy stages. Switching between spring and winter seasons is wonderful and often inspiring with objects appearing and disappearing allowing for opportunities to progress which otherwise wouldn’t have been possible. The gameplay is simple with only a few simple controls to use throughout.
This first look is rather short as I don’t want to give away too much from the full review as there’s a lot to digest from the story. Gray Dawn is something rather splendid and from a team of only 3 developers is even more incredible. They deserve all of the support and appreciation for such a marvelous showpiece.
